We developed the alfapump® system to help patients suffering from refractory ascites avoid abdominal swelling and its accompanying complications. The alfapump® is a fully implantable battery-operated pump system that collects ascites as it forms and pumps it into the bladder, where it is excreted naturally through normal urination.
